The Celtic Cross Tarot Spread

Peace to all the masters of the universe out there. Get ready to learn how to boost your psychic abilities to the next level. Tarot cards are a powerful tool used to enhance your intuitive skills. In this tutorial, I will teach you how to incorporate one of the most known spreads into your Tarot arsonal.

The Celtic cross spread is one of the most popular Tarot card arrangements. This spread can be read in different ways depending on the reader. Every reader is taught a certain way to interpret the spread, and over time, each reader adopts the style that best suits them.

The Celtic Cross spread is divided into two sections. The section on the left is the cross in the circle, and the section on the right is the staff. The left section has six cards, and the right section has four cards.

The section on the left, which is the cross within the circle, can be divided into three subsections.

1. The one and two cards which represent the core of the issue at hand.
2. The three and five cards which represent the inner world and the outer world.
3. The four and six cards which represent the past and the future.

The section on the right, which is the staff, tells a story with the seven card representing you or your situation, and the ten card representing the outcome. The eight and nine card fills in the story.

It is the job of the reader to see what the cards are saying. The cards are a tool used to stimulate the reader’s intuition. The cards themselves are an inert physical object. The power comes from the reader who is analyzing and sensing all the factors of the situation.

Card Positions And Their Meanings

Position one: This card is the foundation card. It is the primary issue of the question or matter at hand. This card has to be thoroughly analysed because it is the theme card of the whole spread.

Position two: This is the card that opposes the primary card in position one. This card can also elaborate on card one. The one and two cards work together to tell a story. As the reader, it is your job to see what they are saying.

Position three:  This card represents your subconscious. It represents the inner world; what lies beneath the surface.

Position four: This card represents the past, or it can represent something related to the past. This card can symbolize something that needs to be let go. The ideas and thoughts that you are clinging to might need to be compromised in order to move forward.

Position five: This card represents the outer world. This card is all about the physical environment. When you see this card, you will recognize your existence in the world seen by the two eyes.

Position six: This card represents the future. If things play out, this card will symbolize what’s to come. This card gives you the opportunity to make adjustments in your moves if you do not like what you see. The future is not set in stone.

Position seven: This is the first card of the staff. This card represents you and your current situation. This card symbolizes what you have to deal with.  This card is about you, your situation, and your decisions.

Position eight: This card is about the forces outside of your inner circle. This card can represent your opposition. Obstacles and adversity is what you can see in the number eight card.

Position nine: This card is all about hopes and fears. If you fall victim to the number eight card, the number nine card can be your outcome. Different readers interpret this card with unique perspectives. The key is to establish your interpretation before the reading in order to stay consistent.

Position ten: This card represents the outcome. Do not get stuck on what this card says if you do not agree with its meaning. You are the master of your destiny. This card lets you know the outcome if you go down a certain path. You can always make adjustments to your motions through your will power and understanding.

How to set up the Celtic Cross Spread

To arrange the Celtic Cross spread is simple. The first thing to do is to go through your preparation of infusing the cards with your energy while you shuffle and cut the deck. The next thing you do is display the cards in a numerical order from one to ten in the Celtic Cross format.

The one card is laid down vertically with the two card on top of it horizontally. The three card is placed under the one and two cross, and the four, five, and six cards go around the inner cross clockwise. The staff is set up on the right of the six cards with the seven at the bottom followed by the eight, nine, and ten.

Before you lay out the cards, meditate on the question that needs to be answered. If you are performing an open reading, meditate and clear your mind as you shuffle the cards. The key is to have faith in yourself and your powers.
